Welcome To Our Family
For the last 20 or so years I have attempted numerous times to document our families history, having been lucky enough to have the ‘Andringa Stichting’ doing all the hard work on the Andringa side of the family I am focusing on thee Sinnott side, my wife’s family as well as my mother’s family.
Doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. Genealogy is a ‘work in progress’, a ‘never ending story’ as there is still so much to be discovered, so it’s now December 2021 and works has only just begun!
If you have come to our site as a result of your searches for your ancestors please do drop me a line and feel free to register for an account.
On the left is my Grandfather Ferdinand Kasper Frerejean who sadly died the year before I was born at the age of 64.

Maria J. Frerejean
Maria Johanna Frerejean, known as Ria was a seamstress and became a Kindergarten Teacher when she moved with her family to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1975 as well as during their stay in the State of Bahrain.
Pieter Andringa (Jr)
Pieter took his family to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1975 and finished his distinguished career being the Project Director of the Saudi Bahrain Causeway, now known as the King Fahd Causeway linking the island State of Bahrain with Saudi Arabia
Pieter Andringa Sr, sailed on the SS Orsova which was a British ocean liner, built by Vickers Armstrong in Barrow-in-Furness, England, for the Orient Steam Navigation Company (Orient Line) for their Great Britain-to-Australia services via the Suez Canal. She was the final development of the 28,000 ton class which began with the SS Orcades of 1948 and continued with the SS Oronsay of 1951.
This postcard was written by Pieter Andringa Sr to Pieter Andringa Jr on his way to Australia to visit his other son Hendricus Pieter Andringa. The postcard was sent from Aman in Jordan on the 18th of March 1962.
Hendricus was known in Dutch as Ricus but used the name Henry in Australia. He emigrated to Australia at the end of the Second World War.
Above is a drawing of the ‘Andringa State’ (the Friesian word for ‘Estate’) in Marssum/Marsum. Around 1600 the state was inhabited by Poppe Tjallingsz van Andringa and his wife Tiets Oenesdr. of Grovestins. Around 1664 Teth van Andringa lives here, then widow of Hoyte van Goslinga with whom she was married in 1622.
There is still a so-called 'men's bench' belonging to this couple in the NH church of Marsum.
